Etxetik kanpo gaudela ere, badira galdu ezin ditugun zitak. Korrika 13 genuen horietako bat, eta ohiturak ala diolako, edo gogoak emanda, Londresen ere bota genuen izerdi patxen bat edo beste. Apirilaren 12an pasatu zen Korrika Londresetik, eta lagun ugari gerturatu ziren Euskal Etxeko inguruetara.
Baina ez korrika egitera soilik, ez noski! Aitzakia polita izan zen lagunak berriro ikusi eta denen artean giro jator eta eder batean egoteko. Aurtengo edizioan, gainera, Hernaniko Iraulio Panttalone Band-ekoen umorea dastatzeko aukera izan dugu. Eguerdi parerako "Ai Martin" bertso-antzerkia zegoen programatuta, baina euskal puntualitatea... Berandu hasi zen antzerkia, baina larunbatean ez zegoen ezertarako presarik, azken finean, festa batean geunden, ala?
Eta antzerkiaren ondotik, bazkaria. Bazkaria hirurogei laguneko familian. Eta bazkariarekin ardoa, hau ere usadio zaharrean, Nafarroakoa. Sukaldean izan zen iskanbila eta larritasunik, denentzat nahiko janari bazen edo ez zen, baina azkenean ez zen keja handirik izan. Han zen bestela chefa, sardea eskuan zuela!
Bazkariari kafeak jarraitu zion, noski, eta kafearekin batera pururik ez, baina bai bertsolariak. Iraulio Panttaloneko kideak aritu ziren, Eñaut Aguirre, Xabier Legarreta eta Joxe Luix Urdangarin hain zuzen. Sorpresarik ere izan genuen, ordea, programatuta ez bazegoen ere, Maialen Lujanbio Londresen azaldu baitzitzaigun. Bestelako sorpresarik ere izan zen, espontaneo bat azaldu baitzen bertsotan. Eskerrak garaiz ixildu zuten!
Giro ederrean ginen, baina altxatzeko garaia ere iritsi zen, izan ere, oraindik korrika egiteko ginen! Eta han abiatu ginen Weavers Fields parkera. Ez zen itzuli handia izan, baina beroa medio edo, jendeak "abituallamentu likido" ugari eraman zuen berarekin.
Eta behin korrika egin eta gero, festari ezin bukaera eman, ez arratsaldeko zortzietan behintzat! Horrela bada, pub batean elkartu ginen denok, "abituallamentu likidoa"-rekin jarraitzeko. Eta hainbeste abituallamenturekin, han denetik ikusi ahal izan genuen: euskaldundutako ingeles eta katalanak, bertsolari espontaneo gehiago... Azken finean, kolore guztietako joerak.
Akordatzerako, ordea, goizeko ordubatak harrapatu gintuen, eta ostalaria ez zegoen gehiagorako prest. Beraz, han banandu ginen, bakoitzak bere bidea hartu zuen, eta "hurrengora arte" bat esanez, Londreseko bazter guztietara hedatu ginen, bakoitza bere etxera edo beste festaren baten bila.
Hurrengo egunean komeria latzak izan zituen batek baino gehiagok ohetik jeikitzeko, baina dudarik ez zegoen. Merezi izan zuen.
Despite being far from home there are some events we cannot miss out. Korrika 13 was one of them and as our tradition says or because we feel it that way we had lots of fun. On the 12 April Korrika passed through London and many people gathered at the Basque Society's premises.
Not only for the running, obviously not! That was just the excuse to see old friends again and to be in warm and lovely atmosphere once again. Moreover, this time we had the chance to have a taste of the Iraulio Panttalone Band's humour. At midday, "Ai Martin" verse performance was planned, but Basque punctuality... The performance started late, but who cares, on Saturday there was no hurry for anything, we were at a party, weren't we?
After the performance we had lunch for sixty people; and also wine as in old custom, wine from Nafarroa. In the kitchen there was some kind of din and anxiety, the people in charge were concerned about not knowing whether there was going to be enough food for everybody, but in the end nobody complained. Otherwise the chief would have sorted it out, holding the fork firmly!
And naturally after lunch we had coffee, no cigars, but we did have bertsolariak: the members of Iraulio Panttalone, Eñaut Aguirre, Xabier Legarreta eta Joxe Luix Urdangarin to be exact. We had some surprises as well, due to the fact that, even though it was not planned, Maialen Lujanbio appeared in London. We had other spontaneous verse singers as well, thank God they finished quickly!
We were enjoying the lovely atmosphere but unexpectedly, it turned out to be time to pack up and we had to do the running for the Korrika! And there we went to Weavers Fields park. It was not a big circuit but due to the hot weather people carried lots of drinks on them.
Once we finished with the running, at eight in the evening, everyone wanted to carry on with the party! So, we gathered in another pub again to keep on drinking. After so many drinks we were able to witness some more Basque speaking English and Catalan singing spontaneous verses ... all kind of tendencies and inclinations.
But before we knew it, it was one o'clock and the barman did not intend to keep us any longer. So we took different directions and saying "see you next time" some went home and others still kept on looking for another party.
Next day, more than one encountered too many problems to get up but certainly they deserved it!
